What’s changed for the Washington Spirit this season? It’s pretty simple. Goals. Never before had the Spirit scored three goals in a half. Only once last season did they have three or more in a game. The person at the epicenter of the biggest controversy in MLS expansion draft history is now the managing director of the Houston Dash, which will stock its roster in the first NWSL expansion draft Friday. Brian Ching was (and still is) a Houston legend, a key figure in the Dynamo’s early MLS success. The Dynamo left him unprotected in the 2011 expansion draft, figuring no one would take him. Washington Spirit vs. Western NY Flash: Dan Borislow was wrong

Those of you who recall WPS may remember that Dan Borislow was an immense supporter of U.S. national team players. Other players, not so much. The idea of fans cheering for anyone other than Abby Wambach almost struck him as repugnant. I never asked Borislow how much WPS he watched before buying the team formerly known as the Washington Freedom.
