The book Long-Range Goals: The Success Story of Major League Soccer was published just as the World Cup started. My publisher, Potomac Books, has rounded up some of the critical praise. No critical pans yet aside from an indifferent customer review at Amazon.
The blog SportsMyriad.com will get a bit of a makeover in September. Stay tuned.
I’m still freelancing for USA TODAY, and I’ve had few pieces published at ESPN.com and The Huffington Post. Some of my most interesting work will be print-only — USA TODAY publishes magazines on special topics, and I’ve gone beyond the sports world for my most recent assignments.
That’s plenty to keep me busy, and I still plan to work up a new book proposal early this fall. I can still take occasional freelance assignments on soccer, MMA, Olympic sports and anything else in the sports world, depending on my schedule at a given time. Try me at duresport (AT) gmail

I received Long Range Goals from Amazon a few days ago and could not put it down! Excellent book and I thank you for writing it. About 10 years ago, I turned from a casual World-Cup only soccer fan to a pretty hardcore soccer lover and I watch MLS games, EPL, La Liga, and Bundesleage as well as well as anything else I can watch. Yes, I still watch football, baseball, NCAA basketball, but soccer captures my attention daily as well. I am more than half way through your book and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in the MLS. Thanks again. I am really enjoying it.

I just finished Long-Range Goals and I was so impressed! Kudos to you, Beau for this labor of love.
I think that your guarded optimism about the future of the league is warranted. I work in a college bookstore far outside of any MLS market and more than one student thought that the idea of an MLS book was “cool”. I’m not sure how this will translate at the gate and the merchandise stand in the long term but for a 21-year-old grad just beginning to follow sports, the MLS (around for most of their life) is certainly a live option.
